Demand Freedom: education | training | action

  • Life Church 150 Dow Street Manchester, NH, 03101 United States (map)

Join us for a powerful day of learning, training and action as we uncover the often-hidden truth behind the global sex trade and the driving force that keeps it alive: demand.

Through keynote sessions from national experts, thought-provoking breakout workshops and opportunities to connect and network with other change-makers, we’ll explore and challenge the systems that normalize sexual exploitation. This event is not about shame— it’s an invitation to step into a new vision of freedom, dignity and justice as we rise to the challenges of our day.

The Missing Ingredient: Confronting Demand in the Fight Against Trafficking

Legislation, law enforcement, survivor care, and awareness campaigns are all critical in the fight against trafficking. But one ingredient remains underdeveloped: addressing the demand. In this plenary, Gene McConnell shares his personal journey and insights from years of work in anti-trafficking and anti-pornography advocacy. He challenges us to confront the appetite that consumes women and children and calls for a new strategy—one that pairs supply-side action with bold, redemptive engagement of men to end demand.

Why Men Buy: Understanding the Roots of Demand Men’s choices are the driving force behind sexual exploitation and trafficking, yet the demand side is often overlooked in anti-trafficking work. This workshop brings that missing conversation to the forefront by exploring the cultural, relational, and personal factors that shape male demand. Together, we will examine how messages about masculinity, pornography, and power contribute to exploitation, and why men rationalize harmful choices. But men are not beyond hope or healing. Change is possible when we call men not only away from consumption but toward a higher vision of integrity, honor, and authentic connection. This session offers both truth and hope—equipping participants with practical tools to engage men in meaningful ways, disrupt harmful patterns, and invite them into a redemptive journey from isolation to brotherhood.
